Generally, these descriptions and topics are approved for CPP initial applications, renewals, and 
recertifications. This is not an exhaustive list and is subject to change without notification. 
Long running courses, workshops, trainings, and conferences have been known to change content 
overtime necessitating adjustments on the part of the PSCBW in accepting and approving CEHs.


Training or education on the following topics

 

Drug Pharmacology and/or Harm Reduction Education:


Drug Pharmacology including but not limited to Alcohol, Cannabis, Vapes and other Tobacco 
products, Amphetamines, Opioids, etc., substance use effects on the human body.


Harm reduction is a broad term that applies to policies, programs, and practices that aim to 
minimize the health, social, and economic consequences of substance misuse, such as environmental 
and economic challenges, access to drugs and lack of awareness of community resources, lack of 
access to treatment, providing safer conditions to manage substance misuse, etc. Drug harm 
reduction approaches are aimed at reducing the harmful effects of substance misuse. Acceptable CEHs 
will contain the term of harm reduction in the title or content will address substance misuse 
specifically.

▪   Approved evidence-based, prevention programs, e.g. Guiding Good Choices, SPORT Prevention Plus Wellness
▪   Substance use prevention for all age groups, e.g. Botvin’s LifeSkills
▪   Parenting education classes, e.g. Guiding Good Choices, The Incredible Years, Parent BASICS

▪   Substance use prevention for various settings, e.g. primary, secondary and higher education, family, community 
▪   Prevention Core Competencies*

HCA/DBHR Annual Provider Meetings – CEHs may be approved on a meeting-by-meeting basis.


HealthEKnowledge and other E-learning courses – CEHS may be approved on a course-by-course basis.


Prevention Conferences – Such as the WA Prevention Summit and CADCA Mid-Year Training Institute. There are 
many conference programs found under a link on the Continuing Education tab.

* These educational events may be 100% Substance Use Prevention Education as well as provide CEHs in Prevention Specific Ethics Education, General Prevention Health Equity Education, and General Prevention Education.
